And whilst the WB aren’t likely to release this video any time soon, a description is the best we can hope for.

From SHH:

It’s essentially a teaser which starts off with a glowing green ball and an alien voiceover that says:

“Welcome inhabitants of sector 2814. The Guardians have chosen you as candidates for enlistment but before you can be recruited, you must be tested. The light you see before you is controlled by your will. Focus on the light. If you will it, it will be. Now, focus.”

That ball of green light continues to pulse and get larger and larger before it blasts the screen with a wave of green light.

We then hear Reynolds’ voiceover saying the Green Lantern oath and a quick montage of footage cut together that went by very fast, including a close-up of Reynolds as Hal Jordan, his hand holding the ring, we see him in street clothes being pulled upwards and see a later scene in which he’s taking on criminals by using the ring to form a giant fist that throws a roundhouse punch knocking out a bunch of guys. We get a very brief glimpse of Hector Hammond and Tomar Re. (We presume that the voiceover was Abin Sur, but we’re not sure.)

After the oath is done, we hear the original alien voiceover saying, “The choice has been made.”

The light we saw earlier starts forming into the GL emblem and then we see the logo is “Await Further Contact Summer 2011.” (Hopefully, they’ll show it again so we can catch more since it went by very fast.)

Green Lantern movie to shoot in Mexico? http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-10/green-lantern-movie-to-shoot-in-mexico/ http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-10/green-lantern-movie-to-shoot-in-mexico/#comments Sun, 11 Oct 2009 18:43:30 +0000 FofR http://www.moviechronicles.com/?p=2833 The original plan was to shoot the Green Lantern adaptation in Sydney, Australia — with shooting set to begin in November. Inside Film report that production is expected to move to Mexico, citing currency changes as the primary cause. This also overrides another suggested change that would have seen the movie shooting in Louisiana.

Shooting in Australia would now add $20m to the film’s production costs.

Warner Bros is understood to be preparing to shift its Green Lantern production to Mexico from Australia, where the booming currency has blown out costs.

The latest proposal overrides recent plans to shift the film to the US state of Louisiana (as reported in the October issue of INSIDEFILM) although a final decision has yet to be made.

If the shoot does proceed at Fox Studios Australia it would add more than $US20 million to production costs due to the rising dollar, according to sources.

Ryan Reynolds cast as The Green Lantern http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-07/ryan-reynolds-cast-as-the-green-lantern/ http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-07/ryan-reynolds-cast-as-the-green-lantern/#comments Thu, 16 Jul 2009 21:44:26 +0000 FofR http://www.moviechronicles.com/?p=2750 After several rounds of casting rumors that featured Bradley Cooper, Chris Pine and Ryan Gosling, we have the semi-official announcement that Ryan Reynolds (The Proposal, Wolverine) is Hal Jordan.

Apparently Reynolds, who looks the part, screen tested alongside Bradley Cooper and Jared Leto, but the decision between the three proved difficult with director Martin Campbell, producer Donald De Line and the studio each having different favorites.

We previously reported that shooting would begin as early as September this year, it seems this has been pushed back to January 2010, though still planning on maintaining the announced June 17th 2011 release date. The budget hasn’t yet been finalized but is believed to be around $150m, the movie is set to film in Sydney, Australia.

Green Lantern delayed six months until June 2011 http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-05/green-lantern-delayed-six-months-until-june-2011/ http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-05/green-lantern-delayed-six-months-until-june-2011/#comments Thu, 07 May 2009 22:08:30 +0000 FofR http://www.moviechronicles.com/?p=2275 Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern adaptation has been pushed back by six months, from December 17th 2010 (announced in March ’09) to June 17th 2011. As far as we know, this has not affected plans to begin production down under this fall. Reasons for the alteration haven’t been cited, some suggestions include more time for Campbell’s special effects or the WB’s new focus on the franchise — pitching the bigger project at a more competitive summer blockbuster date.

Green Lantern now appears to be in direct competition with the big 2011 releases; this move shines the Emerald light between the gaps created by Spider-man 4 and Marvel’s newcomers Thor and Captain America. Summer 2011 looks like quite the superhero overload.

Green Lantern filming in Sydney, shooting begins in November http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-04/green-lantern-filming-in-sydney-shooting-begins-in-november/ http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-04/green-lantern-filming-in-sydney-shooting-begins-in-november/#comments Thu, 16 Apr 2009 08:38:40 +0000 FofR http://www.moviechronicles.com/?p=2081 Update: Earlier today we mentioned the confirmed Sydney filming location for the Green Lantern movie adaptation. THR have divulged a little more information, revealing that the project will have an estimated $150m budget.

We’d previously commented on the Australian filming location and scouting reports in and around Sydney and New South Wales, but today The Australian confirms the specific Sydney locale. Shooting is expected to begin in November and is expected to take six to nine months, this start date is slightly later than the previously reported mid-September. Pre-production shall begin in July.

THE big-budget movie adaptation of comic superhero Green Lantern will be filmed in Sydney, with production to begin later this year.

The movie, produced by DC Comics and Warner Brothers, will be directed by Martin Campbell, the man behind the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale.

It is expected to create around 500 jobs in NSW with pre-production to start in July and filming to begin in November at Sydney’s Fox Studios.

The filming is expected to take six to nine months.

“Bringing Green Lantern to NSW is a major coup,” Premier Nathan Rees said when making the announcement at Fox Studios today.

“Films such as this invest heavily in the local economy and the flow-on effects for local services such as transport, construction and the hotel industry.”

Chris Pine rumored to be inline for Hal Jordan role http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-03/chris-pine-rumored-to-be-inline-for-hal-jordan-role/ http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-03/chris-pine-rumored-to-be-inline-for-hal-jordan-role/#comments Thu, 19 Mar 2009 23:59:59 +0000 FofR http://www.moviechronicles.com/?p=1883 We previously reported that Ryan Gosling could be inline to play The Green Lantern, since then the ante on the movie has upped — with the WB placing all its chips in the green basket, given the hesitation and failings of the Superman and Justice League franchises — suggesting that the Green Lantern role might need re-evaluating.

The IESB are now reporting a short list of possible actors to play the main role, heading the list is Star Trek star (Captain Kirk), Chris Pine. Jon Hamm, Sam Worthington and Nathan Fillion have also been mentioned. The WB are looking for ‘a man’s man under 30′.

We’ll classify this one as rumor for now, especially as Pine’s agent has declined to comment, however with filming set to begin in September it shouldn’t be too long before we see an official announcement.

Green Lantern to begin shooting in September http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-03/green-lantern-to-begin-shooting-in-september/ http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-03/green-lantern-to-begin-shooting-in-september/#comments Thu, 19 Mar 2009 23:44:40 +0000 FofR http://www.moviechronicles.com/?p=1881 The WB are set to begin filming The Green Lantern in mid-September in Australia, report Production Weekly. The Australian location doesn’t come as much of a surprise given the location scouting reports we commented on in December. Meanwhile the production crew has created a base camp at the Tribeca West complex production offices, situated in West Los Angeles.

Update: @WarnerBrosEnt scheduled to begin filming mid-September in Australia on “Green Lantern”

Martin Campbell may direct http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-02/martin-campbell-may-direct/ http://www.moviechronicles.com/green-lantern/green-news/2009-02/martin-campbell-may-direct/#comments Fri, 06 Feb 2009 16:58:34 +0000 Green Lantern http://green-lantern.moviechronicles.com/?p=17 Martin Campbell, director of Casino Royale, GoldenEye and Vertical Limit is in talks to direct the Green Lantern movie adaptation, report Variety. With WB’s big Superman and Justice League movie plans falling through it looks like Green Lantern is moving to the top of the hit list; bringing with it Martin Campbell’s talent and experience and a renewed desire to make this much more than another superhero franchise, especially given the recent and phenomenal success of that dark and emotional Batman movie.

Greg Berlanti was originally inline to direct, he has since been attached to the movie, “This is where I leave you”, yet remains a strong influence as one of the three writers that penned the screenplay (the others being Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green).
