Wachowskis approached to direct next Superman February 13th, 2009

AICN scooper Ballack has surmised some words of James McTeigue’s, a long time Wachowski collaborator.

- McTeigue confirmed that Plastic Man was the next project in the pipeline for the Wachowski’s and he had been signed on to provide Second Unit support. Says the movie has been delayed indefinitely due to a major shake up of projects at WB.

- Bryan Singer has refused to undertake a re-boot of the Superman franchise and has left the Executives at WB with no choice but to take a fresh creative direction.

This is it.…

- He stated the Wachowski Brothers had been approached to re-boot the franchise as a trilogy and they are currently reviewing their options as its like being asked to take the final play in a superbowl final. Says if they do agree, he will likely either succumb to providing second unit support on the movie or will champion the directorship of Plastic Man — He started to giggle as he stated its like a young child for the Brothers and they wont give that up easily.

- Says, the very thought of the brothers making a superman movie is unbelievable as they have grown up in the world of comic books and they would be ideal for the project.

- Stated that Bryan Singer is looking to move on to Logan’s Run a movie to be produced by Joel Silver.

What do you think about a Superman movie helmed by the Wachowskis?

I am proud of Bryan singer for refusing to part of this reboot, I know his idea of more action and a physical fight in the sequel would been another box office hit. as for wachowski brothers they better make not superman dark character. if they do that, personally I would never make a effort to support their movie better yet I will never buy the Dvd.

Bryan’s film had perfect cast, absolutley gr8 music but script and visual effects were nothing but pathetic…Superman’s reboot requires not the ‘dark sided depiction’ at least not yet but originality, in-depth depiction and analysis that explains whys and hows-from scientific point of view to the reality around him as we humans live. Superman, is a one-man show with a very very very huge responsibilty/undertaking. By making a movie on his ‘Dark Side’ following The Dark Knight is a bad idea. Let’s not forget that Sam Raimi has also turned Spiderman into Superman which is indeed the key to the success of the spidey movies. It’s time the world/new generation to know that Superman is the first, original and the true superhero. More emotions, more reality, more originality is the key to put the man of steel where he actually belongs.

I’d rather have re-introduced Superman as someone who actually exists or existed…like how about having a short documentaries titles ‘he was here!’ or ‘this where we found him’ consisting of interviewing people who saw something land or someone who knew his coming or some astronomer spotted something but was kept secret from the world, featuring on the NGC channel the world over…like following bread crumps along each documentary episodes before the release or première of the movie where it is actually revealed who/what are we talking about …something like a make-belief project prior to the release of the worldwide movie première of the Superman reboot! you know these things would be really exciting! or how about the creators actually had contact with him?!…which actually lead to his creation!

I think Singers superman was crap. the way it started was great, then he had to go and throw a superkid the the mix. Talk about out of left field. Did Singer even read the superman comics, or was this another atempt at art. Dude its superman not rocket science the whole things layed out for you. Lets get someone who reads superman comics to make the next movie. You are not going to be able to keep going with the Reeves supman movies. The man is Superman(god rest his soul.) And if your going to make a reboot then get Spacy the man was a great Lex Luthor.
