Preloaded Iron Man on new Dell computers October 1st, 2008

Dell and Para­mount Pic­tures are try­ing to com­pete with iTunes Store when it comes to sell­ing dig­i­tal con­tent.  They are now offer­ing Iron Man pre-loaded on new Dell com­put­ers for the price of $20.  This is the first of many to be sold in this way if they can get oth­ers on board.  We shall see how pop­u­lar this proves to be.

Dell announced today the next era in per­son­al­iza­tion of the PC with the launch of its inau­gural pre-loaded movie ser­vice. Start­ing today, coin­cid­ing with the DVD release, Dell’s movie selec­tion pre­mieres with one of the top gross­ing films of 2008 – Iron Man from Para­mount Pic­tures and Mar­vel Enter­tain­ment. For the first time, con­sumers have the power to cus­tomize select Dell desk­tops and lap­tops with exclu­sive pre–installed movie bun­dles to enjoy per­son­al­ized enter­tain­ment right out of the box.Through www​.dell​.com/​m​o​v​ies for $20.00, Iron Man fans can order a spe­cial dig­i­tal edi­tion with a bonus fea­turette pre-loaded on select Insp­iron, Dell Stu­dio, and XPS lap­tops and desk­tops. With this fea­ture, Dell is eas­ing the process of acquir­ing dig­i­tal enter­tain­ment for con­sumers by installing pre­mium con­tent factory-direct to PCs.

Movies like Iron Man are now imme­di­ately acces­si­ble from a Dell com­puter desk­top or lap­top — no DVDs or down­loads required. Dell plans to expand future enter­tain­ment selec­tions and will con­tin­u­ally refresh its offer­ings to include the most excit­ing Hol­ly­wood block­buster and peren­nial clas­sic movies.
