Pre-production to start in Feb 2009? October 5th, 2008

News reported by Production Weekly (an industry publication), has indicated that it is expected that pre-production for batman 3 should start in Feb 09.  It also lists Christopher Nolan as diretor but this is yet to be confirmed by Warner Bros. or indeed Christopher Nolan.  However we would all be surprised if he isn’t gonna be involved.  We sit and wait for the official announcement.

I wouldn’t be surprised, he hasn’t expressed any real interest in doing it yet. He said he would only continue if he felt something needed to be told or if he thought he could top himself. I ould be surprised if he got the notion that he could continue the series.

Bruce Figgins October 6th, 2008

Nolan didn’t think “something needed to be told”? Gordon and the cops chasing Batman at the end of TDK didn’t leave the story open to a concluding film?

With all the massive hype like do this, do that, etc going on after the successful sequel, it’ll be a different and difficult task for Chris Nolan to complete the thrid one. Since Batman came back to life with Batman begins, I have a feeling that the follow ups don’t have to be extremely super hyped like the anticipation for the third movie. Just let Batman be. I hope Chris Nolan and co with Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard come back without getting by the fans. I’d rather have a surprise than telling those people do this and do that.

DAVID S. October 7th, 2008

Lets just hope for the best that he returns to do the third film.

Nick October 10th, 2008

i hope Nolan returns for the third film i think he will, the fact is that Warner Bros. are going to have a third film no matter what they want the money, so its better to have the guy who made it great to return then give the film to someone else to direct

DAVID S. October 13th, 2008

I just heard that David S. Goyer said that all the rumors to starting Production in Febuary is total Bullshit! That all the rumors are completely false.

Tim October 16th, 2008

Yeah, Goyer debunked all those rumors

Kelly R October 18th, 2008

Bale and Nolan both signed on to do 3 batman films. I also believe that Oldman and Caine did as well. They’re will be a 3rd batman and Chris Nolan will be returning to direct.

Eugene October 20th, 2008

I am looking for some idea and stumble upon your posting :) decide to wish you Thanks. Eugene

OYD October 25th, 2008

I don’t really care seeing as Dark Knight stank big time

Tim October 27th, 2008

Kelly R,

You’re very wrong and I need to correct you. Chris Nolan didn’t sign for 3 movies. Why do you think everyone’s been talking about him returning for a 3rd?? The president of DC Comics even said that Nolan isn’t signed for a new Batman flick. Yes, the actors signed on for multiple movies, but none of the crew. Film crews don’t (or can’t) typically sign on for multiple movies due to the movie studios. And we’ll see a third film only IF they make one.

OYD,

you are a flaming, trolling idiot.

Christian Bale has also stated that he will only do it if Chris Nolan is directing. I find that mighty interesting. So what happens if Chris Nolan doesnt direct? Bale is contractually bound to do it. I can see David S Goyer taking the reigns as director with Jonathan Nolan writing the screen play. Or– take in a completely different direction while keeping some of the same vibe that Nolan used in BB or TDK. In the end, I hope he does come back to direct the last in the franchise. I dont want another “Batman Forever” or have it turn out like the Xmen trilogy. And id be appalled if he came back and it turned out like the Spiderman trilogy. Uck. Its only been 3+ months since TDK premiered so I doubt that any further info will be announced until the end of 2009 or early 2010 but hey, i could be wrong…

I cant imagine there not being an interesting story to tell. The Batman universe is spilling over with potential so its just a matter of the right script. personally I think the stage is perfectly set to introduce Selina Kyle aka Catwoman. As much as this might smack of “batman Returns”, The Dark Knight tackled the original 1989 Batman theme and hit it out of the park. With the death of Rachel Dawes, Bruce/Batman is ripe for confronting the likes of Ms Kyle. As much a savvy business woman as Bruce himself in the reality world, and then packing her finely honed burglary skills that places her on the other side of Batman’s values. yet the chemistry between them cannot be denied.
Plus with Maroni’s demise as Gothams crime lord, the stage is set for the Penguin to step in as Gothams version of Al Capone.
This story triangle has solid potential and could put forever to rest the total crap and mockery that Tim Burton produced in Batman Returns. Its time to tell this story right and Nolan is the man for the job.
