The Dark Knight being re-released in January! September 11th, 2008

In anticipation of a Dark Knight awards push, our caped crusader shall be returning to the huge silver IMAX screens early in 2009, so report Reuters — just before the academy awards voting season begins. Whether traditional theaters shall also carry the re-release has not been clarified.

New cut?

So lets start the rumorang going around — what are your thoughts on the possibility of an alternative cut on the re-release? It would certainly get more bums on seats.

Titanic’s record

With a second release coming, could this push The Dark Knight beyond the coveted $600m mark?

Thanks Antuon!

Looks like I’m seeing it in IMAX yet again! I’ll be there day one! By then, I would’ve watched it on Blu Ray like 8 billion times.

This’ll be awesome! Like the whole premire all over again. You’ll definitely see me there. Well, maybe you won’t. But I’ll be there. :D
That’ll be my…idk, 8 th seeing it?

thomas September 17th, 2008

I’ll be there, too. Luckily, I live in Nashville, so I’ve already seen it in IMAX about 6 times. (12 times overall.)

So, yes, good luck with taking “Titanic” down, Warner Bros.

Tim September 18th, 2008

Its really unlikely that it’ll beat Titanic’s record. That movie was number 1 for something like two months straight.

I never got to see it in IMAX, so I’m pretty happy, though I would just like to own it.

I hope it catches the Academy’s attention, like they intend it to, Heath totally deserves it and the Nolan should get something. At least the Nolans should be nominated for best screen play.

Tim September 19th, 2008

It has a slight chance to beat Titanic. It’s alittle more than $80 million away. Now, if it does turn out to be an IMAX only re-release, then there’s no chance.

no reason why they shouldnt re-release TDK in a altered cut, which could include the missing “joker-chauffeured” scene that follows Dent’s crashed party along with other cuts that ended up on the editor’s floor. fun shit!

The Joker September 20th, 2008

If they release the complete cut, the rumored 3 hour long cut, the way it was intended (what we discussed on the “Joker Chauffeur Scene” page, then I will be there front row and center. Well maybe back row and center, I don’t like to have look up for an entire movie, it gives you neck cramps, but you catch my drift. I’m a man of my word…

Stephen Daniels September 23rd, 2008

Um… cant wait? I read somewhere, someone said they wondered with the DVD being out if anyone would see it in theaters. Yes, of course. Ill go three more times. The IMAX experience, is ten times better than sex. …

The evidence of the Dark Lord’s return is incontrovertible!

Currently, it would seem they are pushing to keep it in regular theaters until Halloween with approximately 74 million away domestically from 600 million. By the time its out of theatres assuming its by Halloween, it should be at 70. It all depends now on when its out of theatres and how much is left to make compared to how muchthe imax made in during its run. we shall see!
